First place in the Central Division is on the line as the Nashville Predators visit Bell MTS Place tonight. The Jets are currently two points ahead with one game in hand but the Predators can move into a share for first with a regulation win. The Jets have the edge in the season series as they lost the first meeting in October but beat Nashville in the last two games. Expect a spirited tilt as both teams are trying to play their best hockey, especially against each other, as the playoffs draw near.

Predators Player To Watch

#76 PK Subban – D

An outgoing personality, PK Subban thrives when the spotlight is on him. Look no further than last game in Winnipeg when the fans were loudly booing every time he had the puck. Subban answered those boos with a big powerplay goal. It seems that Subban always plays his best under pressure, so expect a great performance in such an important game.

Last Predators Game

The Predators and Penguins had a low scoring affair on Thursday night. The Penguins held a 1-0 for most of the game before Nashville was able to score one late. The Preds couldn’t earn the extra point as Crosby scored the winner in the shootout.

Predators Notes

  • From predlines.com: ‘Goaltender debate gains steam as playoffs approach
  • The Predators are beginning a three game road trip in Winnipeg. They head to Minnesota on Monday before playing in Pittsburgh on Friday.
  • It’s been a revolving door in Nashville this season as they have seen many faces in and out of their lineup. They were ravaged by injuries at the beginning of the year and have made plenty of trades along the way. Even with this turnover on the roster, they have managed to stay near the top of the division. It will be interesting to see how Nashville can come together down the stretch now that they have their lineup intact.

Jets Player To Watch

# 12 Kevin Hayes – C

It’s been a less than stellar start to Kevin Hayes’ career in Winnipeg. The second line has been getting chances, but they haven’t quite found the chemistry that everyone was hoping for. Hayes had his best game as a Jet the last time these teams played as he finished with a goal and two assists. Hopefully another clash with Nashville can get the second line going again.

Last Jets Game

Watch at your own risk. (You probably don’t want to see this)

Jets Notes

  • Laurent Brossoit went down with an injury midway through the last game against Vegas. He got run into by Eakin and had to leave the game. In the meantime, Eric Comrie has been recalled from the Moose.
  • The Jets had their four game winning streak snapped against the Golden Knights. It was a rough wake-up call against the hottest team in the league.
  • It’s the time of year where many players are approaching career high numbers. Look no further than Blake Wheeler who is on pace to have the second highest point total in Thrashers/Jets history
