It’s off to Vegas after the Jets put together arguably their worst performance of the season last game against the Avalanche. Their was plenty of soundbites after their 7-1 shellacking in Colorado and it’s going to be really interesting to see how the Jets come out tonight against the Golden Knights. It appears that the lines will finally be getting shuffled as the Jets have lost six out of their past eight games and have been running on empty for weeks. Will last game be the wakeup call the Jets need? Tune in tonight as they clash with the Golden Knights.

Golden Knights Player To Watch

#88 Nate Schmidt – Defense

Nate Schmidt has really blossomed since coming to Vegas in the expansion draft. He went from a leftover piece in Washington to a top pairing defender who logs heavy minutes every single night. He’s having a solid season offensively with 7 goals and 15 assists in only 42 games. Not only does he contribute on offense, but Schmidt is a capable defender who likes to get physical with the opposition. With the Jets desperate for a victory, Schmidt is likely to see a heavy dose of ice time in this one.

Last Golden Knights Game

The Golden Knights and Bruins had a great tilt Wednesday night as they traded goals throughout the entire game. The Bruins went up by a goal on two separate occasions but the Golden Knights were able to tie it each time. In the end, the game went all the way to a shootout where the Bruins prevailed in the sixth round.

Golden Knights Notes

Jets Player To Watch

#26 Blake Wheeler – RW

It was a brutally honest chat with the media after the loss against the Avs on Wednesday night. Wheeler declared that he needs to be better and lead by example to help the team get out of their slump. Wheeler’s always been the type of player to lead by his actions on the ice so a big performance could definitely be in the cards. With such a competitive spirit, Wheeler isn’t fine with mediocrity, he wants to win every single night. He will be the one to watch as the Jets need to step up their game.

Last Jets Game

I’m doing you a favour and not attaching the highlights. If you really want to see them go and search them out yourself.

Jets Notes

  • A shuffling of the lines appears to be happening as the Jets were running different lines at their previous practice. We will have to wait and see if they stick for the game, but it’s nice to see some new combos on the ice.
  • Nikolaj Ehlers is getting very close to returning after sitting out nearly two months with an injury. He was practicing in a normal jersey and Maurice didn’t rule him out of their game against the Coyotes on Sunday.
  • The Jets and Sens rumours are still out in full force as Gord Miller reported yesterday the Jets had Assistant GM Larry Simmons along with two scouts at the Senators game last night. It’s an interesting move, especially now that all three of Stone, Duchene, and Dzingel are sitting out due to precautionary measures. Who knows what this leads to, but all eyes are still on the Jets and Sens to make a big deal.
