The home portion of the exhibition slate for the Winnipeg Jets concludes Monday night as the Ottawa Senators pay a visit to the MTS Centre. It’s another back-to-back for the Jets as they played in Calgary last night.

Head coach Paul Maurice has stated that the final three preseason games will be close to the opening day lineup as possible. There are roster spots still up for grabs however. Can rookies Kyle Connor and Patrick Laine crack the top six? Can Josh Morrissey make the top six on the blueline? Will veterans Chris Thorburn and Mark Stuart be in jeopardy of losing their spots? Will Conner Hellebuyck supplant Ondrej Pavelec as the number one goalie? Monday’s game could start answering those questions.

Ottawa

Record 2-0-2
Lines:
Pyatt-Kelly-Neil
Dzingel-Pageau-Blunden
Puempel-Varone-Robinson
McCormack-Paul-Nehring
Bartkowski-Wideman
Kostka-Borowiecki

The Senators are keeping most of their big names at home so no Erik Karlsson, Mark Stone or Kyle Turris appearances for this one. The Sens lost a 3-2 overtime decision to Montreal on Saturday night in their last game. This is a physical lineup so there could be some rough stuff in this one.

Predictions:

Game Prediction: With the Sens not sending their best, I’m calling a 3-1 win for the Jets.
Obvious Prediction: This game will not be shown on ESPN Classic anytime soon.
Not So Obvious Prediction: Jacob Trouba gets traded during the game and everyone will forget a game is happening.
