JGD 51: Time to Start a New “Streak”

By Dustin Mymko
Jan 24, 2017, 13:30 ESTUpdated: Invalid DateTime
After dropping a hard-fought, 3-2 decision to the Anaheim Ducks, another California team comes to town on a back-to-back as the Jets look to win three of four (since, you know, that three-game win streak just isn’t happening).
The San Jose Sharks come to town fresh off a 5-2 win last night over the Colorado Avalanche on the strength of Brent Burns’ 20th goal of the year, and Patrick Marleau’s 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th goals of the year, all in the third period! The Sharks are now on a five game win streak which started last Monday afternoon when they beat the Jets 5-2 on Martin Luther King Jr Day.
The Jets lost Mathieu Perreault to injury last night when he took a slash from Corey Perry (who else?) in the first period and did not return. The hole he leaves in the lineup could be filled by rookie sensation Patrik Laine, who is just about ready to return from the concussion he suffered January 7th against Buffalo.
Puck drop goes at 7pm CST and the game will be broadcast locally on TSN3 and TSN1290.
Neither team will have a morning skate today as they’re both coming off games last night, and Coach Paul Maurice will not be meeting with the media until late in the afternoon, so here are the projected lines, which are obviously subject to change.
