JGD 19: Jets look to end road trip blues in St. Louis

Nov 16, 2015, 13:26 ESTUpdated: Invalid DateTime
It’s been a road trip to forget about for the Winnipeg Jets.
Losers of their last five — including an embarrassing 7-0 loss to Nashville — the Jets wrap up a four-game road trip on Monday night against the St. Louis Blues.
“We’re not a confident group right now,” Jets head coach Paul Maurice told the Winnipeg Sun. “Our play in the last three games, two of the last three especially, hasn’t been good enough for us to build confidence, so we’ve got to find a different way to do it.”

WINNIPEG (8-8-2)

A Jets offence that can produce goals in bunches has suddenly run dry. Winnipeg has been outscored 18-6 against Central Division opponents during this road trip. The top line of Andrew Ladd, Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler, however, have not been the issue.
The top unit has combined for 10 points in the last four games.

The Jets will have Adam Pardy back in the lineup. Pardy, who hasn’t played since Oct. 18, was paired with Dustin Byfuglien in practice on Sunday.

Ondrej Pavelec came into the game against the Preds after Michael Hutchinson let in four goals on seven shots. Pavelec has an all-time losing record (4-6-1) against the Blues.
ST. LOUIS (11-5-1)

Vladamir Tarasenko netted a pair of goals — including the game winner — the last time these two teams met on Oct. 18. The Blues beat the Jets 4-2. Tarasenko leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and six assists in 16 games.

A pleasant surprise for the Blues this season has ben Colton Parayko, who leads all St. Louis defencemen in scoring with five goals and six assists.

Jake Allen will get his fifth consecutive start in net on Monday night. Allen has a 7-4-1 record with a 1.91 goals-against average.
Predictions
Game Day Prediction: This Jets team has been pretty unpredictable so far this season. But the skid will finally end tonight. Jets 3 Blues 2
Obvious Prediction: Tarasenko is heating up. The Russian sniper has six points in the last five games. The Jets will have to isolate Tarasenko or it’ll be another long night.
Not So Obvious Prediction: The Jets stumble to their sixth straight loss and suddenly everybody will be talking about who will replace Paul Maurice behind the bench. Too soon?
