The Winnipeg Jets announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Alex Iafallo on a three-year contract extension. The deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $3,666,666 and will begin in the 2025-26 season.
Iafallo, 31, has been a steady and reliable presence for the Jets throughout the 2024-25 campaign. He has played in all 81 games, recording 31 points (15G, 16A) and 15 penalty minutes. He ranks third on the team with a +21 rating and is currently riding a four-game point streak, tallying two goals and two assists during that span.
A native of Eden, New York, Iafallo has made a name for himself as a dependable two-way forward since entering the NHL. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Kings in 2017 after a standout collegiate career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Since then, Iafallo has built a solid NHL résumé, appearing in 583 career games between Los Angeles and Winnipeg. He has totaled 262 points (111G, 151A) and 101 penalty minutes in the regular season, and has also recorded 10 points (5G, 5A) in 21 career playoff games.
Iafallo was acquired by Winnipeg as part of the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade during the 2023 offseason. His versatility, work ethic, and ability to contribute in all situations have made him a valuable depth piece in the Jets’ lineup. He’s proven that he can be a reliable penalty killer and can produce offensively.
Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press first reported back on March 11th that there was interest from the formerly pending UFA Iafallo to sign an extension with the Jets.
The Jets wrap up their regular season tonight as they host the Anaheim Ducks at Canada Life Centre. Puck drop is at 6:00 p.m. CT, and you can catch the game live on SNW. Be sure to check out the post-game article at Jetsnation.ca.
