Many thought the Winnipeg Jets were done for the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline, but we thought wrong.
The Jets have traded forward Tanner Pearson to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick. That’s the third Jet in less than 24 hours who has been dealt to the Sabres.
Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press originally jumped on the fact that the Jets weren’t done for the day and speculated that Pearson was on the move for a late pick.
Darren Dreger confirmed the report 40 minutes later, saying Pearson had been traded to the Sabres for a seventh-round pick.
Pearson, 33, signed a one-year deal with the Jets last summer with a cap hit of $1 million. In 52 games with Winnipeg, he’s tallied seven goals and six assists for 13 points, along with 25 penalty minutes.
Pearson brings 774 games of experience to the Queen City, along with 157 goals and 168 assists for 325 points, as well as 263 PIMs. In 59 postseason appearances, he’s contributed nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points while recording 24 penalty minutes.
Pearson won the Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings in 2013-14.
The Kitchener, Ont., native is heading to Buffalo with defencemen Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn, who were dealt last night.
