The Winnipeg Jets won’t be getting a key piece of their forward core back for the remainder of the regular season.
Mitchell Clinton confirmed following today’s Jets morning skate that forward Morgan Barron will miss the rest of the regular season.
Barron has been out week-to-week with a lower-body injury since April 6 after suffering the injury in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.
It’s been an up-and-down season for the Halifax native. He went on injured reserve in November due to an undisclosed injury, then in January missed a couple of games due to injury and illness. Most recently, he missed two more games last month after leaving a game against the Colorado Avalanche on March 26 and entering concussion protocol following a fight.
Despite playing only 65 contests, he’s already set a new career-high in points (23). He tied his career-high in goals, which he set in 2023-24 (11), and is one assist away from matching the career-high 13 assists he recorded in 2022-23.
Barron, 27, has appeared in 321 NHL contests, recording 41 goals and 42 assists for 83 points, along with 111 penalty minutes. In 18 playoff games, he has two assists and four PIM.
The six-foot-four centreman was originally drafted 174th overall in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers.
Winnipeg continues its playoff push tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers in its final Saturday night game of the season and fourth-last of the 2025-26 regular season. They still remain three points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with four games remaining.
