The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have recalled Nelson Nogier from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose on an emergency basis. Nogier was drafted as a defensive defenseman in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL draft and has 2 goals, 13 assists in 57 games played.
Nogier is playing his first season with the Manitoba Moose, following a 4-year career in the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades and Red Deer Rebels. Nogier was known as a steady stay-at-home defender during his time in the WHL, but his game has not quite translated to the AHL level. The Jets signed the WHL’s 2013-14 Scholastic Player of the Year to a 3-year ELC last summer. Nogier’s recall leaves Jan Kostalek and Brenden Kichton as the only two players on defense with the Moose that are under contract with the Jets.
Per Ken Wiebe, Ben Chiarot may be the injured Jet as he took his final shift halfway through the 3rd period yesterday afternoon. Under the emergency recall rules, Nogier would be returned to the Moose as soon as Chiarot is cleared to play.
Update: It appears Mark Stuart may be the injured player. Ben Chiarot was on the ice for practice today.
As for the D-men, Ben Chiarot is on the ice for #NHLJets skate. Mark Stuart is not
Still not known if Nelson Nogier (emergency recall) will play tomorrow for the #NHLJets.
