The Winnipeg Jets have announced the recall of D Sami Niku from the Manitoba Moose.
Niku, 23, has played in 18 games for the Moose this season scoring three goals and adding 11 assists.
The Finnish defender has played in one NHL game this year — an Oct. 8 match against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The move comes hours after the team announced D Nathan Beaulieu is expected to miss “at least a month” with what’s being described as a lower-body injury.
Beaulieu, 27, had blocked a shot off the back of his leg during Tuesday’s win over the Colorado Avalanche. Jets head coach Paul Maurice said Carl Dahlstrom is expected to return to the lineup tonight as the Jets host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
