Jets prospects Boumedienne, Freij named to Sweden’s World Junior Championship roster

The highly anticipated World Junior Championship is right around the corner, and we’re going to see two Winnipeg Jets prospects hit the ice representing Team Sweden in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Sascha Boumedienne, 18, and Alfons Freij, 19, were both drafted by the Jets in recent years, Boumedienne 28th overall in 2025 and Freij 37th overall in 2024. Now, they’re gearing up to take part in the biggest tournament of their hockey careers.

Through 15 games with Boston University in the NCAA, Boumedienne has two goals and four assists for six points. Last season with BU, he posted three goals and 10 assists for 13 points.
In his first season with Timra IK, Freij has played 24 games, recording one assist so far. Last season with Bjorkloven IF, the Solvesborg product tallied two goals and six assists for eight points.
Boumedienne also represented Sweden at the 2025 U18 World Championship, where he recorded one goal and 13 assists for 14 points in seven games.
Freij did the same in 2024, putting up two goals and four assists for six points in seven games.
