The game was closer than the score may indicate, but the Jets took it to one of the top teams for 5-on-5 situations.

Drew Stafford opened the scoring with a tic-tac-toe play from his linemates Mark Scheifele and Jiri Tlusty. Jeff Carter scored to tie it up in the second with a slick wrister off the rush, only to have Tyler Myers and Andrew Ladd take bury the Kings with two quick goals.

Ladd picked up another late in the second and both teams traded off goals in the third.

Let’s break it down.

Penalty lows – The Jets kept the Kings to just 4 minutes of power play time. They also limited the Kings to only four shots on the power play. This is a good step forward for the Jets.

Chevy’s acquisitions – Stafford a goal. Myers a goal. Tlusty an assist. Jets newest faces made a direct impact on score sheet.

Tough stuff – The game was pretty close in terms of possession, but Jets got the edge over the Kings via closing the shooting lanes and blocking shots. Remember: blocking shots are not bad, you just want to give the opposing team as few opportunities to shoot as possible.
