Jets Nation Recap: Flames put four past P4velec; Jerts score one

Well that was something.
The Winnipeg Jets rolled into the Calgary hoping to overcome the Flames and pull off a perfect 2-0 roadtrip, but it was not meant to be.
GAME THOUGHTS
- Three first-period goals by Joe Colborne, Michael Frolik, and Sean Monahan put the Jets at a large deficit that they were unable to overcome.
- The Jets came to the Saddledome hoping to pull together their first three-game streak of the season.
- They almost had it too (stay with me here). At 5v5, the Jets had 58 shot attempts to the Flames 31. The Jets out chanced the Flames 29-18. Even in the low-slot / high-danger region, the Jets created more chances with out producing the opposition 13-8. With only allowing one goal against for non-5v5 minutes, that’s usually a recipe for success.
- Three goals in 15 shots. That’s some 5v5 shooting percentage for the Flames.
- Speaking of which, how’s that five-year contract coming along Ondrej Pavelec? Fantastic….
- Jets didn’t produce much, but they were not short of trying. Sometimes it pours; sometimes the well is dry.
- One question to ask: would the game have unfolded differently if the Alexander Burmistrov goal had not been disallowed?
- Speaking of Burmistrov, he’s been a lot better lately.
- Also speaking of Burmistrov, the Jets “second line” has been pretty damn good. They would make for an excellent third line next year if need be.
