Jets Nation Draft Preview: D-Day… or L-Day

By Garret Hohl

The day is here!! It is finally the first day of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The day arrives where multiple 18-year-olds have their potential NHL work options severely limited.
The time has come for the Winnipeg Jets to make their selections for the first round of the NHL Draft and we have your preview at Jets Nation.
Jets Nation, On Location
I, Garret Hohl and Jets Nation’s fearless leader, will not be in Buffalo. I will instead be sitting at Displace Hashery (a bar in Vancouver), in front of a television, writing up news pieces and analysis on selections while giving my usual banter on the Twitter.com. This will be true for both Friday and Saturday.
We do have representatives at the draft.
Nations Overlord, Thomas Drance, will be in Buffalo getting the quotables and keep you informed with the media pass, while Jets Nation veteran, Robert Cleave, will be giving you the fan perspective and thoughts on the draft.
Not one but two
Potential trades aside, the Winnipeg Jets have two selections for the first day of drafting. The team selects both second overall and twenty-second overall. It will be an exciting time to see the Jets add another two first round players into the team’s already deep prospect cupboards.
Get into the right Laine
Yes, it’s not pronounced like Lane, but whatever.
Random speculative Tweets from the Bobfather aside, the Winnipeg Jets will most likely be taking Patrik Laine second overall. This will add a potential natural goalscorer not yet seen in the organization since the move to Manitoba. This is a pretty big deal so get excited Jets fans.
Stanley could still work out
There are quite a few options for the Jets 22nd overall selection, and not everyone has the Jets taking Stanley. Quite a few do. While I don’t believe Stanley to be the best value at 22, he is still a prospect and one that will be welcomed to the organization. Things could end up like the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, where everyone had the Jets taking Jansen Harkins with their second first round pick, only for him to be picked up with their second round selection.
We got content
