The Winnipeg Jets announced Wednesday morning that they have signed superstar forward Kyle Connor to an eight-year contract extension with an average annual value (AAV) of $12 million, ahead of their Thursday home opener.
Connor, 28, led the Jets in points while setting single-season career highs with 97 points and 56 assists during the 2024-25 season, playing in all 82 games. The Shelby Township, Mich. native finished in the NHL’s top 10 in points (7th) and goals (tied 7th with 41) and was named to the 2024-25 NHL First All-Star Team. He also played all 13 postseason games, leading Winnipeg in points (17) and assists (12), with five goals tied for the team lead.
Selected 17th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft, Connor has compiled 582 points (284G, 298A) in 613 career NHL games. In 58 postseason contests, he has added 49 points (20G, 29A). Since becoming a full-time NHL player in 2017-18, Connor has scored at least 30 goals in seven seasons and surpassed 60 points six times. He earned the 2022 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player who combines sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct with a high standard of playing ability.
Internationally, Connor has represented the United States multiple times, most recently recording one assist in three games at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off.
Signing Connor ensures the Jets retain one of their cornerstone players, who would have hit unrestricted free agency in 2026. The next priority for the team will be negotiating a new deal with captain Adam Lowry.
The Jets open their 2025-26 season Thursday against the Dallas Stars at Canada Life Centre, with puck drop set for 7:00 p.m. Coverage will be available on TSN3.
