Despite being a depth defenceman for the Winnipeg Jets, Colin Miller has earned a spot in EA Sports’ spotlight thanks to one of his most dangerous weapons—his booming slapshot. EA Sports recently unveiled its top 10 players for slapshot power in NHL 26, and Miller cracked the list at No. 7 with a 93 rating, placing him among some of the league’s biggest names.
Miller was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings 151st overall in the 5th round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, he’s had quite the NHL journey, making stops with the Boston Bruins, Vegas Golden Knights, Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars, and New Jersey Devils before landing in Winnipeg. While he’s never been considered a top-pairing defender, his slapshot has followed him everywhere. Fans who have watched him over the years know that when he winds up, it’s one of the hardest shots in the game.
What makes this recognition stand out is the group that surrounds him. He’s listed alongside superstars like Alex Ovechkin, Victor Hedman, and Tage Thompson—players who are known for their offensive firepower. For a defenceman who plays limited minutes, cracking the top 10 is a cool accomplishment and a reminder of how scary his shot can be.
There have been multiple times during the NHL season where Miller recorded the hardest shot. During the 2023-24 season, while with New Jersey, he recorded a 102.59 MPH blast using NHL Edge technology—the hardest of that season.
The slapshot isn’t really common in today’s NHL, with teams all focused on quick releases and fast plays. But Miller’s blast from the point is still a weapon—and now, gamers get to take full advantage of it in NHL 26.
For Winnipeg fans, it’s a fun addition to the virtual experience. While Miller doesn’t play a starring role every night on the ice, in NHL 26 he’ll offer players a legitimate weapon from the blue line—and it’s always exciting to see a Jet get recognized on one of EA’s specialty lists.
So far, other Jets who have been featured on EA Sports’ specialty lists include Connor Hellebuyck, Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor, Luke Schenn, and now Colin Miller.
