Winnipeg Jets C Mark Scheifele was named the NHL’s second star of the week.
Scheifele was on fire last week recording eight points (3-5—8) in three games for the Jets including a four-point outing (1-3—4) against the Colorado Avalanche in a 7-4 win.
The star centre also had multi-point outings posting 1-1—2 in a 6-3 loss to the Maple Leafs and another 1-1—2 game in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild.
In 42 games this year, Scheifele leads all Jets with 20 goals and 28 assists. It’s his fifth consecutive 20 goal season with only teammate Blake Wheeler (six times) and Ilya Kovalchuk (eight times) recording more 20 goal campaigns in Jets/Thrashers history.
Scheifele was named to the all-star game for the second time last month.
Named 1st star of the week was Colorado Avalanche C Nathan MacKinnon who posted 3-5—8 in three games helping his club win two of three games.
Columbus Blue Jackets D Zach Werenski was named third star of the week as he scored five of the clubs eight goals in three games last week.
