The Winnipeg Jets are not only struggling but they face an opponent that is a tough out in interconference games.
The Jets are -125 home favourites while the New York Islanders come back as a +105 underdog with a 6.0-goal total on the NHL odds for Thursday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Jets are on a two-game losing streak to start a six-game homestand and are also 8-8 in their last 16 home games against Eastern Conference teams with the total going OVER in 10 of those contests. The Islanders are 5-3 in their last eight away games against the Western Conference.

The Islanders, who are 3-3-0 so far this season and come into Bell MTS Place on a two-win streak, also defeated the Jets 4-1 in a home game on October 6 with Josh Bailey and Anthony Beauvillier chipping in one goal and one assist apiece.
On top of faring well when they venture west, New York is 10-6 in its last 16 regular-season home games as an underdog and the total finished UNDER in 10 of those games. They may hold value for bettors who believe the struggling Jets are a fragile team at this point.
With that said, the Islanders are struggling offensively with the NHL’s 26th-ranked offense (2.33 goals per game), which has been propped up by an eighth-ranked power play (27.5 per cent). They fare better in their own end with the 12th-ranked goals-against record (2.83), but their penalty killing (75 per cent) ranks 22nd.
The Jets are 4-4-0 so far this season and have struggled to find a rhythm on home ice. Despite the star power of center Mark Scheifele and left wing Blake Wheeler, the Jets are 3-5 in their last eight regular-season games as a favorite of -115 to -140 on the moneyline at betting sites.
The total finished OVER in five of those eight games, so circumstances might play into the favor of the Jets, who have the NHL’s 17th-ranked offense (3.13 goals per game). Winnipeg may also get center Brian Little (concussion protocol) back to shore up their second line, which has been helmed by Andrew Copp. The Jets are ranked 25th in goals against (3.75) and are also 20th on the power play (18.5 per cent) and 30th on the penalty kill (60 per cent).
Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who has a 2.82 GAA and .919 save percentage in five games this season, did not play in the teams’ first meeting of the season. Laurent Brossoit (4.86 / .850) got that nod that day.
The Jets continue their six-game homestand against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
