On Monday, April 14th, the NHL announced that Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week for the period ending April 13th.

Hellebuyck opened his week with a 3–1 win over the St. Louis Blues, ending their 12-game win streak while facing just 14 shots. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner followed that up with a 25-save shutout in a 4–0 victory over the Dallas Stars. He capped off the week with a 5–4 shootout win in Chicago, turning aside 28 shots against the Blackhawks.

By the end of the week, Hellebuyck had recorded three wins, one shutout, a 1.62 goals-against average (GAA), and a .931 save percentage (SV%).

Hellebuyck leads all NHL goaltenders in wins (46) and shutouts (8), while his 2.02 GAA and .924 SV% are the best among goalies with more than 25 games played. The Commerce, Michigan native capped off a stellar 2023–24 season by winning his second Vezina Trophy and first William M. Jennings Trophy. He was also named to the NHL’s First All-Star Team.

Only four goaltenders in NHL history have recorded more wins in a single season: Martin Brodeur (48 in 2006–07), Braden Holtby (48 in 2015–16), Bernie Parent (47 in 1973–74), and Roberto Luongo (47 in 2006–07).

This marks the fifth time this season—and the ninth time in his career—that Hellebuyck has earned a spot in the NHL’s Three Stars of the Week. He is the sixth Jets player to be selected for a weekly honor this season. He was also named the NHL’s Third Star of the Month for November, while teammate and fellow Michigan native Kyle Connor earned Second Star of the Month honors in October.

The Jets will wrap up their regular season on Wednesday when they take on the Anaheim Ducks for the third and final time this season at Canada Life Centre.
