The Winnipeg Jets are right back in action tonight after playing in the Windy City last evening against the Chicago Blackhawks, as they take on the St. Louis Blues at Canada Life Centre.
The Jets failed to get anything past Spencer Knight, who turned aside all 32 shots to help the Blackhawks hand Winnipeg its second straight loss, a 2-0 final. Jason Dickinson (6) and Connor Bedard (20, ENG) scored for Chicago, while Connor Hellebuyck made 22 saves. With the loss, the Jets dropped to 19-23-6.
St. Louis was pumped 5-0 by the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, marking its fifth loss in the last six games (1-4-1). Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his 12th of the season in his 1,000th NHL game, while Connor Ingram made 27 saves.
These clubs met on Dec. 17, when Joel Hofer and the Blues shut out Winnipeg 1-0. Tonight marks the second of four meetings, with the next two coming in Winnipeg on March 15 and in St. Louis on April 9.
Defenceman Elias Salomonsson missed yesterday’s game due to illness and is expected to remain out, while defenceman Isaak Phillips is set to play in his second straight game. Eric Comrie is expected to get the start in goal.
