It’s felt like the Winnipeg Jets have constantly been playing on the road, and it’s for good reason. In their last 16 games, 12 of them have been on the road. Tonight, they open up a four-game homestand against the Dallas Stars and will finally get used to playing at Canada Life Centre again.
Wins haven’t come easy for the Jets lately, and when you thought maybe they’d build on their 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres at home Friday night, they went into Edmonton the following night and gave up four first-period goals en route to a 6-2 loss to the Oilers. Gabriel Vilardi scored his 13th and Cole Koepke his 2nd of the season, while Thomas Milic, who replaced Eric Comrie after allowing four goals on 16 shots, made nine saves.
The Stars, specifically Jason Robertson, continue to dominate the league right now. They’re 8-0-2 in their last 10 games and are coming off a 3-2 shootout win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, a game where they didn’t play their best, but still managed to pull out two points. Mikko Rantanen netted the shootout winner and Jake Oettinger made 27 saves.
At Monday’s practice, Jets head coach Scott Arniel shook up the lines ahead of today’s matchup with the purpose of trying to get all the forward lines rolling offensively. The team also loaned Milic to the Manitoba Moose and recalled goaltender Domenic DiVincentiis to back up Comrie.
