T-minus 15 games remain in the 2025-26 regular season for the Winnipeg Jets heading into tonight’s matchup with the Boston Bruins at TD Garden, but they still sit four points out of the final Western Conference wild card spot.
Winnipeg managed to steal a point from Tuesday night’s contest against Nashville, a game they arguably controlled, but fell 4-3 in a shootout to close out its season-long eight-game homestand. Josh Morrissey (12), Gabriel Vilardi (26), and Jonathan Toews (8), who scored the late tying goal to force overtime, found the back of the net for the Jets. Connor Hellebuyck made 20 saves as Winnipeg dropped to 28-28-11.
“Every game is a big game right now,” said Vilardi following Tuesday’s shootout loss. “We’ve been winning and picking up points, so it’s been pretty good. You know, we’ve got to keep going, though. Every game is playoff mode right now for us. That’s the position we put ourselves in.”
Boston has dropped its last two games, though both came in overtime, allowing them to pick up a point in each. Most recently, they fell in Montreal on Tuesday. Pavel Zacha (21, 22) scored twice, while Jeremy Swayman turned aside 28 shots in the overtime loss. Boston currently holds the first wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with 82 points and a 37-23-8 record, though Detroit is tied in points and holds the tiebreaker for WC1.
A win for Winnipeg tonight would move them within two points of a playoff spot, though the standings remain tight. Seattle, who holds WC2 with 71 points, faces Nashville (69), while San Jose (70) is also in action. Los Angeles, tied with Seattle in points, takes on the Flyers.
Tonight marks the final meeting of the season between Winnipeg and Boston. The Bruins took the first matchup 6-3 at Canada Life Centre on Dec. 11.
There are no lineup changes for tonight’s game, and Connor Hellebuyck will get the start in goal.

Perfetti – Lowry – Vilardi
Nyquist – Toews – Rosen
Koepke – Barron – Lambert
Morrissey – DeMelo
