Ex-Jets winger Frolik returns to Winnipeg: ‘I know their system’

A familiar face will return to Winnipeg on Friday night when the Jets host the Calgary Flames in their home opener at the MTS Centre.
Michael Frolik, who spent two seasons with the Jets and helped the club clinch its first playoff berth since 2007, will be donning a Flames jersey when he steps on the ice to face his former teammates for the first time since inking a five-year, $21.5-million deal with Calgary.
Having played under Paul Maurice’s system, Frolik claims he can be the Flames’ No. 1 pre-game scout heading into the matchup.
From the Calgary Herald:
“If the coaches or anybody asks about their system, I’m happy to help them,” the Flames right winger said. “I know their system and their structure. We can talk about it before the game, especially with my line. “It’s good that I know their system and a bit of what they might do.”
In two seasons with the Jets, Frolik posted back-to-back 42-point campaigns before signing the mega-deal this summer. Through three games, however, the right-winger has yet to find the back of the net.
Frolik would love nothing more than to pot his first against his former team — especially against his good friend Ondrej Pavelec.
From the Calgary Sun:
“I don’t know if he’s playing, but if he is, it’d be nice to score on him,”  Frolik said. “It’s a friendly thing. We are really good buddies, but he doesn’t want me to score on him and I’d like to score on him.”
