The Winnipeg Jets continue to roll. Despite a sluggish start that saw them trailing 2-1 after the first period—arguably one of their worst periods recently—they found a way to bounce back. As the saying goes, good teams find ways to win, and the Jets did just that, erasing a two-goal deficit to secure a 3-2 overtime victory.
The game took an early turn when Eric Comrie was forced to leave less than a minute in after taking a hard hit. Connor Hellebuyck stepped in, stopping five of six shots over 10:10 of ice time before Comrie returned to the crease.
Winnipeg got on the board late in the first period when Dylan Samberg fired a point shot off the pad of Joey Daccord, right to Cole Perfetti, who buried his 14th of the season to cut the deficit in half.
The Jets pulled even in the second when Morgan Barron set up Kyle Connor with a slick backhand pass, springing him on a breakaway. Connor made no mistake, beating Daccord glove side for his 36th goal of the campaign.
The first two matchups between these teams were nail-biters, and this one was no different, requiring overtime to determine a winner.
Just 1:47 into the extra frame, Samberg played hero, burying the game-winner for his sixth goal of the season and his second in as many games. With the win, the Jets completed the season sweep of Seattle, finishing 3-0-0 against the Kraken.
Eric Comrie faced 15 shots and made 14 saves for a .933 SV%, during his time in the net. Comrie improves to an 8-8-1 record.
Winnipeg now improves to a 47-17-4 record, only two points shy of hitting triple digits. They sit first in the Central, Western Conference, and the NHL standings. They also take a huge jump above the second place Dallas Stars in the Central. 11 points separates the two teams
