The Winnipeg Jets will be looking to continue their hot stretch and solidify their position atop the Central Division standings on Monday night when they play host to the Dallas Stars as -155 favorites on the NHL betting lines at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Jets earned a 5-0 shutout win over the second-place Nashville Predators on Saturday night at -105 on the NHL odds, pushing their lead in the Central to four points with seven games left on their schedule. Connor Hellebuyck stopped all 33 Nashville shots in the game, while Kyle Connor had a hat trick, and Kevin Hayes had a goal to go along with three assists.
That was a bounceback performance for the Jets, who’d lost 5-0 at the Vegas Golden Knights in their last outing last Thursday to put an end to a four-game winning streak. Overall the Jets have eight victories over their last 12 outings, while the UNDER has paid out on the totals in each of their last five contests according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
And while the Jets are looking to put more space between themselves and the Predators in the race for top spot in the Central standings, the Stars are simply looking to stay above the line in the Wild Card chase in the Western Conference. Dallas is fighting the Colorado Avalanche, Arizona Coyotes, and Minnesota Wild for the conference’s two Wild Card berths.
The Stars hurt themselves in that quest over their past two outings, first falling 3-1 at home to the Avalanche as -155 betting favorites last Thursday and the losing 3-2 at home to the Pittsburgh Penguins as -120 betting favorites in their last game on Saturday night. That makes four losses for the Stars in their last five games, with the UNDER 4-1 in that stretch.
Dallas, though, has beaten Winnipeg twice in three meetings this season, including a 4-2 victory at -105 on the NHL odds in their most recent matchup on January 19. The Stars also topped the Jets 5-1 at home at -105 odds back on October 6, while losing 5-1 as +140 road underdogs on January 6. Overall the Jets are 8-2 in their last 10 games against the Stars.
After hosting the Stars on Monday the Jets continue their homestead against the New York Islanders on Thursday and Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. Winnipeg then closes its season schedule with a four-game road trip through Chicago, Minnesota, Colorado, and Arizona.
