The Winnipeg Jets, who are need of a bounce-back performance, happen to be facing an offensively challenged team which has never won at Bell MTS Place. The Jets are the -135 home favourite with the Arizona Coyotes coming back at +115 while there is a 6.0-goal total on the NHL odds for Tuesday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Since the franchise moved to Winnipeg in 2010/11, the Jets are 10-0 in their home games against the Coyotes. Arizona is also 2-6 in its last eight games as an away underdog, with the total going UNDER six times. The Jets are 13-7 in their last 20 home games against Pacific Division opponents, and the total has gone UNDER at online betting sites in four of the seven most recent games in that sample.

Arizona is off to a 1-2-1 start and while the samples are small this early in the season, they are 31st and last in the NHL in goals scored (1.75 per game) and are also one of four teams which has yet to score a power-play goal.

The Coyotes, who are 1-5 in their last six away games against Central Division teams, are also patching up their blueline after top-four defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson suffered a cracked fibula last Saturday, which will keep him out for up to three months. Arizona does have the league’s fourth-best goals-against record (1.75 per game) and is tied for fifth in penalty killing (90.9 per cent).

Winnipeg is 4-3-0 and has had hit-or-miss results with expecting the Mark Scheifele-Patrik Laine-Blake Wheeler and Andrew Copp-Kyle Connor-Nikolaj Ehlers lines to offset a thin defense corps. Both Scheifele and Wheeler ended up minus-4 during a 7-2 defeat against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.

But facing a relatively punchless team should give the Jets, who are 14th in goals scored (3.29 per game) and 23rd in goals against (3.57), an opportunity to take chances. On special teams, the Jets’ power play is ranked 22nd (14.3 percent) and the penalty kill is ranked 27th (69.2 percent).

Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who has a 2.50 GAA and .928 save percentage in four games this season, should be in line to start after Laurent Brossoit handled the Pittsburgh game.

The Jets continue their five-game homestand against the New York Islanders on Thursday.
