The Winnipeg Jets are facing an opponent whose style of play is similar to that of teams which have given them trouble recently, and who also plays well in their arena.
The Jets are the -125 favourite while the Montreal Canadiens are the +105 underdog with a 5.5-goal total on the NHL odds for Monday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Jets are 7-5 in their last 12 home games as a favourite of -115 to -130 on the moneyline. Coincidentally, the Canadiens are 7-5 as a road underdog at online sports betting sites this season. The away team is also 5-1 in the last six games of this matchup, while the total has finished OVER in seven of the last nine.

Winnipeg ranks 21st in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (49.1 percent) but the likes of Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler and Patrik Laine have ensured that they make the most of what quality scoring chances they do generate. Winnipeg is 17th in goals scored (3.03) and ninth in goals against (2.78). Their power play ranks 19th (18.1 percent), but the penalty killing unit is a dismal 30th (73.4).
Connor Hellebuyck is 17-10-2 with a 2.44 goals-against average and .926 save percentage after earning his first shutout of the season against Minnesota.
