Tonight the Jets will have the chance to pick up their fourth straight win. The Jets earned their 3rd straight win, a 5-4 thriller, on Tuesday against the Islanders. It was a game where the Jets a 3-0 lead, lost it (almost) then battled to re-gain the lead and hold on in the end. One of the Central Divisions’ best teams, the Minnesota Wild, host Winnipeg tonight, and they’re currently on a solid 4-2-4 stretch in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Jets are now an almost decent 3-5-2 in their last 10 games.
The now 31st overall 18-22-5 Winnipeg Jets and 4th overall 26-12-9 Wild will clash on this Thursday night on TSN3, with these two teams on opposite sides of the league standings. We’re now in the middle of perhaps the busiest part (month) of the 2025-26 NHL season schedule, and there’s not much time for teams to reset before their next game. Teams need to be ready for a busy travel schedule too, but luckily the Jets have the majority of their games in January at home.
The Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild have now met three times already this regular season. The first matchup was in Minnesota on October 28th, where the Jets won 4-3. On November 23rd the Jets hosted the Wild, but lost 3-0. The Wild also defeated the Jets in Winnipeg in overtime 4-3 on December 27th. The season series concludes tonight, January 15th, in Winnipeg. With a win tonight the Jets would split the season series 2-2 against this talented Central Division team.
The injury report for the Winnipeg Jets now has four names: Haydn Fleury has an upper body injury and is listed as “week-to-week”. Despite playing last game, Neal Pionk is now listed as “week-to-week” with a lower body injury, and that’s the same status now for Colin Miller. Morgan Barron remains out “day-to-day” with an upper body injury. The Wild continue to have just a few injuries, with two players currently listed on their injury report. Zach Bogosian has an undisclosed injury and is “day-to-day”, while Joel Eriksson Ek was added to the injury report on Tuesday with a “day-to-day” lower body injury.
Jets Projected Lineup
Connor – Scheifele – Iafallo
Perfetti – Toews – Vilardi
Niederreiter – Lowry – Namestnikov
Koepke – Zhilkin – Pearson
Morrissey – DeMelo
Samberg – Salomonsson*
Stanley – Schenn
Hellebuyck
Comrie
The unconfirmed starting goalie is Connor Hellebuyck, who continues to start in goal. Eric Comrie will likely start Monday against the Blackhawks or on Tuesday against the Blues. After Hellebuyck’s most recent start, he now holds a 11-12-4 record with a 2.75 GAA and a .899 SV%. The rest of the Jets lineup appears mostly unchanged from their last game, with the exception of Elias Salomonsson* likely replacing Pionk’s spot. Luke Schenn remains on the 3rd pairing with three Jets defencemen now injured. As usual, there could be some announced lineup changes by the Jets prior to the game, so make sure to stay tuned to the Jets official X/Twitter account for any late lineup additions or changes prior to puck drop.
Wild Projected Lineup
Kaprisov – Yurov – Zuccarello
Johansson – Hartman – Boldy
Foligno – Sturm – Tarasenko
Trenin – Jones – Hinostroza
Hughes – Faber
Brodin – Spurgeon
Middleton – Hunt
Wallstedt
Gustavsson
The Wild lineup is missing just two injured players now. The lineup still features several young talents and a couple newer additions. Looking at the Wild’s player stats through 47 games, Kirill Kaprizov continues to lead the way with 52 points. Jesper Wallstedt is the unconfirmed starting goalie. Wallstedt is earning his chances in the NHL alongside Gustavsson, and he’s been posting up some fantastic numbers in his starts this season. Wallstedt holds a 12-3-4 record with a 2.42 GAA, 4 shutouts and a .921 SV%.
Jets player to watch: Alex Iafallo
Tonight the player to watch from each team will be a 1st line forward who has performed well recently. Alex Iafallo hasn’t had his most productive season in 2025-26, but he still sits tied in 4th among Jets forwards in scoring. In 45 games, Iafallo has 8 goals and 9 assists for 17 points. The scoring isn’t quite there for Iafallo, but it he’s improved since he was moved up to the top forward line with Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor. Iafallo continues to adapt his play style for his “new” role on the top line, and he’s a player that should continue to make a strong impact on both ends of the ice on a nightly basis.
Wild player to watch: Kirill Kaprizov
Kirill “the thrill” Kaprizov continues to play like one of the league’s best forwards. There’s another superstar on the Wild in Matt Boldy, and this duo has been lighting it up all season. In his last 5 games, Kaprizov has 4 points, and continues to lead the Wild with 52 points. Every time Kaprizov is on the ice (especially on the powerplay), the Wild are a threat to score. The Jets will need to shut down the Wild’s top line in order to give them the best chance of winning.
Puck drop in Minnesota is set for just after 7:00 pm CST. Tonight’s game will be the Jets final time seeing the Wild in the 2025-26 season, so they’d like to continue their three game winning streak against this Central Division opponent. Stay tuned here at Jets Nation for a recap of the action, as the Jets look to win their 4th straight game before returning home on Saturday.
