The Winnipeg Jets announced that Brayden Yager will represent the franchise at the 2025 NHLPA Rookie Showcase.
The NHLPA released the full list of rookies on Tuesday, which includes more than 30 players with limited or no NHL experience, ranging from recent draft picks to players preparing for their first full season.
Full list:
Frederic Brunet (BOS), Zeev Buium (MIN), Berkly Catton (SEA), Trevor Connelly (VGK), Ben Danford (TOR), Sam Dickinson (SJS), Karsen Dorwart (PHI), Jordan Dumais (CBJ), Jack Finley (TBL), Marc Gatcomb (NYI), Konsta Helenius (BUF), Quinn Hutson (EDM), Tij Iginla (UTA), Joakim Kemell (NSH), Ryan Leonard (WSH), Oliver Moore (CHI), Alexander Nikishin (CAR), Jani Nyman (SEA), Zayne Parekh (CGY), Gabe Perreault (NYR), Francesco Pinelli (LAK), David Reinbacher (MTL), Alex Sandin-Pellikka (DET), Gracyn Sawchyn (FLA), Matthew Schaefer (NYI), Beckett Sennecke (ANA), Jimmy Snuggerud (STL), Cam Squires (NJD), Matthew Wood (NSH), Brayden Yager (WPG), Carter Yakemchuk (OTT).
The showcase will take place on Sept. 3 at the Washington Capitals’ practice facility in Arlington, Virginia. The event is closed to the public, but it serves as an opportunity for Upper Deck, the NHL’s official trading card partner, to capture photos and video for upcoming cards and promotional content.
Yager, a right-handed centre, was among the Western Hockey League’s top players last season and is viewed as a prospect with legitimate NHL potential. After being traded from the Moose Jaw Warriors to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in early December, he recorded 52 points (14 goals, 38 assists) in just 33 games.
He also captained Canada at the 2025 World Junior Championship, registering three assists in five games. However, Canada was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Czechia, marking a second straight early exit.
The Jets acquired Yager, the 14th-overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, from the Pittsburgh Penguins last summer in exchange for 2022 first-rounder Rutger McGroarty. Now 20, he has aged out of junior hockey and will begin the 2025-26 season with the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League.
