The Winnipeg Jets end a homestand against a team who is starting a long road trip in a city where they’ve had trouble winning over the years.
The Jets are the -115 home favourite while the Colorado Avalanche are the -105 underdog with a 6.0-goal total on the NHL odds for Tuesday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Jets are 11-3 in their last 14 home games against the Avalanche, according to the OddsShark NHL Database, with the total going OVER in four of the six most recent matchups between the Central Division counterparts at Bell MTS Place. Colorado is also 0-4 in its last four divisional games.

The Avalanche are 10-5-2 after scoring 13 goals across their previous two games against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators. Franchise center Nathan MacKinnon and impressive rookie defenceman Cale Makar lead a team that is third in the NHL in goals scored (3.65 per game) and 11th in goals against (2.88), despite ranking right in the middle of the pack as the 15th-best team in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (50.21 per cent).
On special teams, Colorado is ranked 15th on the power play (19.7 per cent) and 13th in penalty killing (82.8).
The total has gone UNDER at online sports betting sites in Colorado’s last eight away games against Central Division opponents. But they won’t have No. 1 goalie Philipp Grubauer (lower-body injury) and will be relying on Pavel Francouz, who is 4-2-0 with a 2.82 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.
The Jets are 10-7-1 and also enter the game on a two-game win streak. A recent line shuffle that split up Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler is helping Winnipeg generate enough offensive zone time and reduce the pressure on a defence which is yielding 33.6 shots per game, sixth-most in the NHL.
The Jets, who are 18th in the NHL  in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (50.21 per cent), are also 22nd in goals scored (2.72 per game) and 15th (2.94) in goals against. The power play is ranked 21st (17.2 percent), while a 28th-ranked penalty killing unit (73.0 percent) remains a trouble spot.
Connor Hellebuyck, who is 8-5-1 with a 2.28 goals-against average and .933 save percentage in 14 games this season, has been nothing shy of a savior for the Jets so far this season.
The Jets visit the Florida Panthers on Thursday for the first matchup on a four-game, eight-day road trip.
