It doesn’t matter how many shots are taken, it matters which ones go in the net. It was the Jets who managed to score more goals despite getting out-shot against the Hurricanes.

They Said It…

Blake Wheeler on Laurent Brossoit’s first game as a Jet…
“He played outstanding, he gave us a chance to win. If he doesn’t play that way, we don’t have a chance to win tonight, so that’s outstanding.”
Wheeler on his assist to Laine for the first goal of the game…
“The first thing I do is look and see what’s around me and I saw him standing there all alone. So on those plays, the whole building is looking at you, including the goalie so typically there is going to be someone open with an open cage.”
Laurent Brossoit on if he could have scripted the game any better…
“If I didn’t let in that one goal… No, I felt good, obviously it’s nice to contribute and get that first one out of the way.”
Brossoit on the what he saw on the breakaway chances to Aho and Svechnikov…
“I just made a read that he was going to take a shot and I guessed blocker and that’s where he shot so that’s kind of one of those things that happens early and gets you right into the game, it was nice.”
Morrissey on the play leading up to his assist on the game winning goal…
“I think it was off an icing, there was a faceoff in their end so I thought their guys might have been a little tired. They tried to make a change and Bryan made a nice backhand pass to me across the ice. I was able to get past the first guy and had somebody going to the net… and just was able to see Bryan through the seam and he made a great shot.”
Maurice on Brossoit’s play…
“Laurent was fantastic tonight. It was just a continuation really of his training camp, he had a very strong camp… he gets across the net powerfully and read the play well and competes in the net.”
Maurice on Little’s line getting better after a few games together…
“Bryan Little’s line now was a threat and created some things in a tough game to do that and to score the game winner that’s really strong.”
