Sixteen games remain in the season for the Winnipeg Jets as they begin a three-game Pacific Division road trip tonight, taking on the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena.
Just four points shy of hitting triple digits, the Jets look to extend their win streak to three games. In their last matchup, they battled the Dallas Stars at home, securing a 4-1 victory. The top trio of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Gabriel Vilardi shined once again. Dylan Samberg opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the season, Connor added two goals—his 34th and 35th—to make it 3-0, and Morgan Barron netted his sixth to extend the lead to 4-0. Connor Hellebuyck had his shutout spoiled late in the game but still managed 24 saves for a .960 SV%.
Seattle currently sits seventh in the Pacific Division, 11 points outside of a wild card spot. The Kraken are coming off a 4-2 win over another team pushing for a wild card berth, the Utah Hockey Club. Eeli Tolvanen scored twice (his 20th and 21st), Brandon Montour netted his 16th, and Kaapo Kakko added his 11th. Philipp Grubauer made 23 stops, posting a .920 SV%.
Tonight’s game will conclude the season series between the two clubs. Winnipeg has won both previous matchups, first with a 4-3 overtime win in October, followed by a 2-1 regulation victory in January.
On paper, these two teams are in very different positions. However, Seattle is not a team to take lightly, especially given the skill and firepower they possess. Both previous meetings this season were decided by just one goal, so expect another tight contest tonight.
