The Jets got dropped by the Flames by a score of 4-1 in Game 1 of their play-in series last night, but the big story today is the status of Mark Scheifele.
Matthew Tkachuk finished a hit on Scheifele against the boards in which the former’s skate came up and seemed to cut the latter’s leg. Schiefele rolled around on the ice in pain and left the game and didn’t return.
We don’t yet have an update on his status and we also don’t know if Tkachuk will be disciplined.
After the game, Paul Maurice blew up on Tkachuk, saying that the hit was “filthy” and “disgusting.”
”It's an absolutely filthy, disgusting hit…”

Tkachuk also said after the game that the hit wasn’t intentional and that he felt terrible about what happened.
Matthew Tkachuk laughs in an exasperated way when asked if he had any role in Mark Scheifele’s injury. “No. Absolutely not. … I feel terrible. Such a great guy. It’s not good for the game when someone like that isn’t in the game. It was an accident and I feel terrible about it.”
