There is a new king of the JN gauntlet mountain. Dylan DeMelo put a stop to the three match winning streak of Cody Eakin and moved on with an easy win. Today he’ll take on Jets prospect David Gustafsson.
Dylan DeMelo’s gantlet path…
Cody Eakin has moved on in on Fan Favorite gauntlet Series. Next up? The other big trade deadline pick up from this season, Dylan DeMelo.
Between these two #NHLJets, who is your favorite?

In the end, the fact that Eakin was the hometown boy couldn’t save him from the prospect that DeMelo was a very welcome addition to the Winnipeg Jets blueline. There is also the potential that DeMelo could remain in Winnipeg longer term than Eakin does despite both of them being Unrestricted Free Agents this off-season (whenever that will be). DeMelo represents a need for the Jets on defense, while Eakin being a solid depth forward is one of the last things the Jets really need to worry about going forward.
There was also a sentiment almost from the start that while DeMelo was looking forward to joining the Jets and being a key part, there was some doubt there was the same from Eakin.
Demelo is a good one.
He looks happy to be here and is looking to contribute
Eakin is an odd one.
He looks unimpressed with the move.
He seems to be looking for the nearest exit and an April tee time.

#19 – David Gustafsson
For a moment, it looked like David Gustafsson was going to stick on the main roster this season. The 19 year old – Winnipeg’s 2nd round pick in the 2018 Draft – impressed coaches during the preseason and earned a spot on the Jets, although he didn’t make his debut in the lineup until the 8th game of the season against the Arizona Coyotes.
There was also some question if Gustafsson was going to stay on the team past the 10 game mark and he did, playing 22 games with the Jets. He only picked up a single goal in those 22 games, but what a beauty of a first NHL goal it was..
What a solo rush by David Gustafsson! Look at the dangles around EK!! Look at the rocket(?) wrister that beats Dell!

The Jets loaned Gustafsson to Team Sweden for the upcoming World Junior Championships, and then after the tournament assigned him to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.
The fans have spoken up and it's Dylan DeMelo who moves on in our gauntlet series.
Can he pick up a second win? To do so, he'll have to take down an #NHLJets prospect who impressed early on this past season.
