Jets Celebrate Indigenous Culture With Performance Of O Canada In Ojibwe

As part of WASAC (Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre) Night, before the game between the @Winnipeg Jets and @Tampa Bay Lightning, the Canadian national anthem was sung in Ojibwe for the very first time at a professional sporting event.

The anthem was performed by the Strong Warrior Girls Anishinaabe Singers from Riverbend Community School in the Seven Oaks School Division (SOSD)

The Jets also marked the night by wearing special edition warm-up jerseys that honored and celebrated indigenous culture.

Both the Jets warm-up and Moose game jerseys will be auctioned off at auctions.nhl.com from Thursday, Jan. 23 to Sunday, Feb. 2 with all funds raised going toward WASAC and their efforts to create opportunity for Indigenous youth across the province.
