The Race Is On: We’re Not Done Here

For a brief moment, the Predators thought they had done it. A last second goal in Florida seemingly tied the game up at 2-2 which would have given the Predators a single point int he standings and a chance to to earn a second point and not only the Central division regular season crown, but top spot in the west.

And then video review happened.

The NHL called that goalie interference and just like that, the game was over and the Florida Panthers won 2-1 in regulation.

So, that Predators loss along with the Jets win reduces Nashville’s lead in the Central to three points with both teams having two games left. It’s still likely the Preds end up wrapping this thing up but they have games against two playoff bound teams while the Jets get two more softballs thrown at them at home. (Don’t underestimate how much revenge they’ll be looking for on Saturday against Chicago)

The Vegas Golden Knights needed a shootout, but they did beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-4, so they remain one point behind the Jets for second place in the West.

The San Jose Sharks had a chance to take a big step towards clinching second place in the Pacific division, but lost to the Dallas Stars (great time to pick up a win on the road there Dallas, that should have come a couple of weeks ago)
