Oilers will most likely dominate the Pacific division for the next ten years with the blocks they have in place right now. 33 point improvement over last season. Exciting season for the Oilers and they will be better than this year.
Was pleased with the improvements on the back end. Overall playing a better defensive and more consistent than the team down the qe2.i heard they have 3 Norris trophy candidates every year but still suck, and they blame it on the goalie.

This comment is a bit off topic but it is in regards to the oilers and every other team in regards to salary cap. I don’t like the current format for the cap. It shouldn’t be so general. It needs to be sectioned so teams that have drafted well can keep the players they groomed. Drafted players should not count against the cap, period. Perhaps even traded players don’t either as assets were given up to acquire the said player. The only cap hit to any team should be UFA’s. Each team can only have 15 million or whatever in UFA in their line up. It stops teams like Chicago who sucked for years only to reap the benefits of drafting later on having to trade those players because of the cap. Edmonton will run into this in a few years, so will Toronto probably in 4 or 5 years. We saw it with Ottawa having to trade Chara and Hossa because they couldn’t afford to keep them all.

Eberle will not be back and I’m pretty sure in a 31 team league there is a taker for a guy that scored 20 goals in a down year and he is still young. Teams have taken a chance on a lot worse. Edmontonmight have to eat some salary or give up someone else but someone will take him.
