Today, the Manitoba Moose announced that defenceman Luke Green to an amateur tryout agreement.
Luke Green, drafted 79th overall by the Jets’ at the 2016 draft, will be getting his first taste of pro hockey as he looks to crack the Moose lineup with this tryout offer. This season, Green has appeared in 60 games for the Saint John Sea Dogs and Sherbrooke Phoenix this season and will be getting a taste of professional hockey with the Manitoba Moose.
The Bedford, NS native is a former first overall pick in the QMJHL and is known for his offensive instincts and mobility from the back end which helps him jump in on the rush, skills that have helped him amass 108 points(21 goals, 87 assists) in 181 games (split between Saint John and Sherbrooke). While Green’s overall game will need some polish he is a defenceman that will be able to play in all situations with a hockey IQ that puts him in a position to excel offensively.
Luke Green had all kinds of hype following him after being drafted into the QMJHL, and while he has not quite reached the levels some had expected of him has all the tools and raw talent required to become a well-rounded, offensive defenceman.
