Worst to First Jerseys: The Winnipeg Jets

This installment of the Worst to First Jerseys features the Winnipeg Jets, and much thanks to Jets Nation for letting me guest post on their blog. On my own blog, I talk about about graphic design in hockey and I’ll be doing the jerseys for the rest of the league over time, so come by…

KHL: Two huge rivalries, crazy KHL fans

Two KHL games for you today. First we have the Czech team Lev facing their Slovakian rivals Slovan, and then Latvian Dinamo Riga playing their Belarusian rivals Dinamo Minsk. Two great games, and absolutely rabid fans. Great seeing packed barns for a hockey game. I almost forgot what it looked like.

Lots of interesting stuff across the Nation websites this week, including an exclusive interview with an NHL head coach, 2013 Draft talk, a look at how goalies perform as they age, and obligatory stuff on the NHL lockout. Read more, after the jump!

ECHL GAME

Any league that has the sense not to lock themselves out through Christmas and any team that has the sense to mysteriously drive off Theo Peckham gets our business. Where do you go when there is nothing to do and you are still riding high on having survived a Raiders game? It’s time to…

RAIDERS GAME

With the heart warming news that the Lockout negotiations are extraordinarily poorly, your ol’ pal Wanye decided to go to a place where rage and danger are the norm. Negotiations between NHL, NHLPA fall apart

Donald Fehr and Gary Bettman held dueling press conferences on Thursday night, and the news was not good. After initially suggesting both sides were close, Don Fehr announced that the NHL had rejected the players’ associations’ latest offer. Gary Bettman followed Fehr up, and announced that the NHL was removing all of the concessions placed…

An NHL lockout is a cynical business, with two extremely rich parties fighting for a wicked pile of cash. The most recent edition has been particularly galling, with two sides seemingly able to agree on a myriad of issues but unwilling to bridge the small gap between them. Given that, naturally I was cynical about…

KHL: The last few days

It’s a lockout, but I’ve barely noticed. Been very busy over the last few days with a bunch of things, so without further delay, here’s a whollllle bunch of KHL games and action from the last few days. Alex Ovechkin’s first KHL hat trick, Malkin gets 4 points, and some orgasmic goals. Yes. Orgasimic….

NHL OWNERS AND PLAYERS FACE-TO-FACE

Donald Fehr and Gary Bettman will not be directly involved in today’s meeting between six NHL owners and a select group of NHL players, but don’t jump to a conclusion assuming that both sides will suddenly find some common ground with their leaders out of the room. Bettman has long been the player’s whipping boy….
