After two frustrating losses in Arizona and Los Angeles, the Jets look to finish off their three-game road trip on a positive note. But an opponent like the San Jose Sharks is no easy task, especially for a Jets team that's had subpar goaltending, to put it lightly.
Puck drop is slated for 3:00pm central. The game can be watched on TSN3 and can be heard on TSN 1290 radio.

With a points-percentage that ranks above only the Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes (and behind the likes of the New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings), there is no mistaking that the Winnipeg Jets have not played like a good hockey team this season. There have been flashes, yes, but the wins are not coming fast enough and they're not getting the points needed to climb in the standings. With that being said, however, they are only four points back of the Los Angeles Kings for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference. Things don't feel great in Jetsland these days, but things are far from over. It should take somewhere around ninety points to get to the playoffs, so the Jets will need about 46 points in 36 games to get there. A record of 20-13-3 sounds like a tall order for this club, so if they're going to get there, they'll have to start winning now and that means that good showings are imperative in games against San Jose, Arizona, and St. Louis this week.

It's more of a 'Bottom to Top' but 'Top to Bottom' sounds better. This is a monthly feature where I'll do a dive into each team's underlying numbers to see if they match up with where they currently sit in the standings.
Three months down, three to go. We're halfway through the 2016-17 NHL season. At this point, we can stop talking about who's over and underachieving, because at this point enough time has passed to accurately determine who's actually good and who's actually bad.
With that in mind, I'm going to split the league into five categories: Legitimate Stanley Cup contenders, surefire playoff teams who aren't quite at the top of the class, basement teams who are fighting for last overall, teams in purgatory who aren't bad enough to tank but won't compete for a playoff spot, and middling teams who could occupy the last few spots depending on external factors.

Apologies for the slightly clickbait-type title. I will not be making the Winnipeg Jets goaltending woes disappear. However, I will be taking an in-depth look at the Jets and their netminding. I will weigh the options and then make suggestions on what the Jets could do with some pros and cons to each option.
Let's get into it.

Light week for the Jets Nation Air Mail this week which is a tad understandable as Jets fans feel a bit worn down after two brutal uninspired losses and an OT loss where the Jets maybe deserved a little bit better a fate.
As always, if you have a Jets or hockey related question in general burning away in your head, be sure to @ reply our Twitter account with the hashtag #JNAirMail and we'll get to answering it next week
