Winnipeg Jets leading scorer Blake Wheeler won't miss any time as a result of being struck in the side-of-the-head by a Dustin Byfuglien snapshot at practice on Friday. Wheeler is a tough guy, obviously.

"He's 100 per cent. That's what he tells us, that's what the docs say...he's a tough kid," Jets coach Paul Maurice told reporters, by way of Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun, while also confirming that Wheeler will play on Saturday against the Arizona Coyotes.

By the Numbers: Statistically splicing Tyler Myers, Travis Hamonic, and Zach Bogosian

The New York Islanders are looking to trade Travis Hamonic for another big minutes defender. It appears that the Islanders are targeting Jacob Trouba or Tyler Myers, but the Jets are reluctant to pull the trigger.

We recently opined that the Jets should make the swap between Myers and Hamonic if at all possible.

It is rare though to see a big contract defender like Myers get swapped a year within being acquired by a team. It was not long ago the Jets made an exchange leading to Myers picking up Zach Bogosian's former place on the roster.

With Myers already playing 48 games for the Jets, I thought this would be a good opportunity to compare Myers to Hamonic and Bogosian in terms of their on-ice results over the past two seasons.

Report: Jets the preferred destination for Manitoba-born Hamonic, but 'loath' to give up Myers, Trouba in trade

If you had to pick one position at which the Winnipeg Jets are pretty much set, you'd probably choose right-handed shooting defensemen.

In Dustin Byfuglien, Jacob Trouba and Tyler Myers, the Jets have some excellent right-handed shooting blue-line pieces. Even if Byfuglien leaves in free agency, with Myers signed through 2019 and Trouba cost controlled for even longer, the Jets are set on the right point for the next half decade or more.

Understandably then, it may be tough for the Jets to accommodate Manitoba-born right-handed shooting defenseman Travis Hamonic, currently of the New York Islanders. Born in St-Malo Manitoba, Hamonic would love to don a Jets jersey at the MTS Centre, but reportedly, the Jets are reluctant to give up the sorts of pieces that might make it happen.
