Eller Scores Four... Who? What?

Claude Noel refused to blame his goaltender or the fact his team doesn't play very well on the road. Instead, the head coach of the Winnipeg Jets simply said his defense was shaky and his team "didn't check very well."

Well, that's certainly one way to look at it.

Wednesday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Lars Eller (that's right, Lars Eller) scored four goals including one on a penalty shot and dished out an assist as the Montreal Canadiens scored four times in the third period and whipped Noel's Jets 7-3. Eller had four goals going in and he doubled that output against the Jets. Ouch.

Better Know a Prospect – Carl Klingberg

Carl Klingberg is a load – 6’3” 205 and only 20 years old. Scouts love numbers like that when you combine them with skill. Factor in that he has 21 points in 24 games in the AHL so far this season and now you have something to work with. Fortunately for Winnipeg they already have Blake Wheeler on the pro roster so they can move slow with Klingberg which is good news considering the numbers he posted in his recent call up. That being said this is Klingberg’s first pro season in North America after last season abbreviated run with Chicago in the AHL for only 8 games and making his NHL debut in what would be the Thrashers last ever game vs. Pittsburgh on April 10, 2011.

Should the Jets Try to Trade Big Buff?

Nation World HQ

Winnipeg Jets head coach Claude Noel calls Dustin Byfuglien "a special player."

Noel is not incorrect. As a hockey star, Byfuglien is a different breed of cat. For one thing, he's 6-foot-5, 265 pounds and even in a league that is getting bigger with every draft, Byfuglien is still a very large human. For another, he has a monster shot that makes him a threat from the point and an awesome offensive weapon around the net.

He's also won a Stanley Cup championship, played in an all-star game and battled for the NHL's scoring lead among defensemen. He has everything that makes a great player -- size, speed, skill and experience.
