Jets invite David Aebischer to Camp

Along with former Penguin Janne Pesonen, it looks like failed Colorado goalie David Aebischer will be trying to make a come back with the Jets this year. James O'Brien of Pro Hockey Talk notes this morning that Winnipeg has invited the Swiss born puck stopper to camp on a try-out basis.

Terrible news breaking on twitter this evening. Ex-Canuck and recently signed Winnipeg Jet Rick Rypien was found dead in his Alberta home today.

According to James Mirtle, the Winnipeg Jets have invited veteran Finnish/KHL player Janne Pesonen to training camp as a try-out.

- You were born in Calgary. What was it like growing up out there?
I was born in Calgary, indeed. But I lived there only for a couple years and moved to the prairies – to Saskatoon. That’s where I learned that I wanted to play hockey.

Recently Bob McCowan of Prime Time Sports stated he knows of at least three players who want out of Winnipeg. Whether the statement is true or not, it raises the spectre of a concern that could prove to be very real one for Jets fans and management: that NHL players won't want to play there.
