Winnipeg added another body this morning, claiming 23-year old Brett MacLean off of waivers from the Phoenix Coyotes.

News on twitter from various quarters this morning is the Jets have signed first rounder Mark Scheifele to an entry level contract. It's pretty standard procedure for new prospects to get inked relatively quickly, but the timing suggests the youngster may have convinced the club to keep him around rather than send him back to junior.

Technically the Jets are a very young organization and almost every project they are stuck with isn’t their fault but the Thrashers’. And while one can fairly point out that the Georgia-based team made it to the play-offs only once in their history, they still managed to pick arguably the best Russian player in the league a decade ago – Ilya Kovalchuk.
However, along with Kovy the Thrashers made a few questionable decisions when it came to his compatriots. Let’s have a look on their Ruskies List.

EA Sports released their much anticipated NHL12 today. Reviews and reports of game play/mechanics have been trickling in on my twitetr feed today, some of which I have decided to share. Apparently EA has gotten quite clever with this iteration and the "Be a GM" game mode hides some rather idiosyncratic quirks and pitfalls.
