About this time last year we at the Nations were trying to figure out a way to make the seemingly endless lock-out interesting (and to keep the lights on as our advertisers fled in terror).
Flash forward 12 months and we're bigger than ever after adding Brian Sutherby, Daily Faceoff and getting JetsNation on its feet (with the help of some great new contributors). We have some big plans for the future and will likely be adding even more content, gear, features, contests and fantasy type games very soon.
Of course, none of this is possible without all of our readers. So thank you for sticking with us through the dark times and continuting to make writing and reading here interesting, challenging, fun and rewarding.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone.

By now most of have heard of this new Budweiser red light thing. For those of you living under a rock (or who PVR every game and zip through commercials), Bud has come up with a replica goal light which you can sync with your favorite team, install in your house, and have it go off every time your club scores. IT'S LIKE ACTUALLY BEING AT THE GAME. Especially if you like to have belligerent drunk friends over to watch the match with (err, drunk ON BUDWEISER of course. Enjoy responsibly and all that).

We've run a few of these recently and there seemed to be some interest, so Draft Street has set up another Nations Freeroll contest for this week.
Here's a run-down of the rules for those who are unfamiliar:

So NHL hockey is back and every nation site is rocking with tons of daily content, comments, arguments and the odd terrible MS paint picture or photoshop.
Every site, that is, except for the baby in the network: JetsNation.
I convinced Wanye to buy JetsNation.ca and develop the site as soon as they announced a team would be returning to Winnipeg because, hey! Opportunity! I figured it would be easy to track down tons of shiny new excited bloggers and that JetsNation would be bigger than the Beatles in no time.

Apparently Olli Jokinen landed in Winnipeg after his second stint ended in Calgary this off-season. And now he's playing with Evander Kane in the Jets top six and has already collected an impressive 0 points in three games played.
As a native Flames fan I have naturally had many years (on more than one occasion) to observe Olli's foibles as an NHL player and I feel it's my duty to report to his new fans just what kind of player Jokinen is. To start, I can safely say he's a bit like the proverbial Frogurt.
