Losing Patrik Laine isn't an easy thing to adjust to. Expectedly, Winnipeg misses Laine dearly in many facets. He's missed on the teams top line, on their power play, in clutch scoring opportunities, you name it.
Rotating Drew Stafford and Mathieu Perreault up and down the lineup isn't going to replace Laine's scoring. Those type of tweaks will continue to equal mediocrity, a style of play the Jets have grown accustomed to. With no timetable for Laine's return, the Jets will have to continue to scramble to find an offensive boost in the mean time and that's proven to be no easy task with the current roster of players they have.
Not much to report on Patrik Laine today. Maurice said he continues to improve, but has not skated yet.— Sara Orlesky (@saraorlesky) January 17, 2017
The Jets need to construct their lines better and insert more scoring throughout their lineup. Thinking outside the box, what about the idea of Kyle Connor, the Jets first round pick in 2015, getting another stint with the Jets?

Too little too late.
As always, the final score doesn't reflect how far apart the Jets are from their opponents. The final score read 5-2, but the third period was irrelevant, as the Jets had already looked disheveled and out of sync. This afternoons loss wraps up a forgettable three game road trip that only accumulated a single point to show for.
The clock is ticking and the Jets playoff chances are dwindling and each disappointing performance piles up to reduce the teams playoff chances.
Let's break down todays matinee.

After two frustrating losses in Arizona and Los Angeles, the Jets look to finish off their three-game road trip on a positive note. But an opponent like the San Jose Sharks is no easy task, especially for a Jets team that's had subpar goaltending, to put it lightly.
Puck drop is slated for 3:00pm central. The game can be watched on TSN3 and can be heard on TSN 1290 radio.

Connor Hellebuyck, the presumed goalie of the future, is struggling in his first full NHL season. Michael Hutchinson on the other hand, isn't playing like an NHL-calibre backup, thus placing more responsibility on the shoulders of Hellebuyck. The Jets need a boost in net and it's likely they can't get that from anywhere else internally. Looking down to the Manitoba Moose, the Jets have Ondrej Pavlelec and Eric Comre waiting in the wings and neither of the two net-minders would be of much help at this time.
Pavelec, the Jets former starter, was demoted for a longetivity of poor play. Whereas Comrie, 21, needs to be properly developed and seasoned in the AHL for the remainder of this season before the idea of him making an NHL-start is considered.
Should the Jets look for another goaltender to improve the teams goaltending and furthermore, help take the load off Connor Hellebuyck?

After a game in Buffalo that saw the Jets not only blow a 3-1 lead, but also have Patrik Laine concussed, the Jets need to turn the page. Suited up in their vintage attire for the first time since the Heritage Classic, the Jets will look to get their season back on track against the Flames.
Puck drop is slated for 7 pm CT and you can catch the game on TSN3.
