Just as the Winnipeg Jets managed a blockbuster trade that served to restore some semblance of forward depth to their roster, it appears that they may be without the services of forward Mathieu Perreault for a while.

The Winnipeg Jets are back in action this evening as they host the Edmonton Oilers at the MTS centre in downtown Winnipeg. This is the second of the Oilers-Jets three game series, with the Jets beating the Oilers 3-2 in overtime with the previous bought.
The Jets enter today's game holding onto the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference with a record of 29-19-10, while the Oilers have the last spot in the West with a 16-32-9 record. Both teams have struggled over their last 10, with Jets being 3-5-2 and the Oilers being 4-6-0.

I mentioned in yesterday’s recap that the St. John’s IceCaps really needed to pick up some points against the Worcester Sharks if they wanted to remain in contention for a playoff spot. We are back with the third edition of Future NHEhlers where we review all the latest in news, statistics gossip and rumours of the Jets prospects who are not currently in the AHL. We are a day earlier than normal as I am currently flying around the world to return home to Canada. It's been an active week as Ehlers continues to dominate and set records, while a shake up of the prospects in the Kane trade has shipped out a former member and brought in two new ones.
Continue past the jump to read everything that went down.

The rumour mill has been churning out grist concerning the future of Ottawa Senators' pugilist Chris Neil for quite some time now. The presumption is that the heavy forward could add to the #gritchart rating of a Western Conference contender.
Fans and media still seem to believe that Neil could be helpful on a decent team. In his most recent 30 Thoughts piece, for example, Elliotte Friedman mentions that Neil and the Winnipeg Jets would make sense as a landing spot for Neil.
We don't quite agree. Though this isn't much of an active threat since Neil was recently injured and surely won't be traded now, but still, this is bad logic and we can't resist taking some time to explain why.
