Call it what you will, but the Winnipeg Jets brought their "A" game to the hangar on Monday night against a very difficult and stingy opponent.
At the end of the night, they had their sixth win of the season and two points in the bag.
The best part of the game was not the fact that the Jets had goals from five different players, but that it was a complete 60 minute effort from start to finish.
As a sort of reward, the Jets Skills Competition added to a seemingly relaxed and calmed team - a team that has finally shown what it is capable of on it's best days.
To that point is the emergence and necessity of a good game via defenseman Dustin Byfuglien.

After a tough 2-1 loss in Columbus, Winnipeg returned home to face a team that they hadn't beaten in 12 tries. They got the early lead, held on, pretty much controlled the game start to finish with probably their most impressive win yet over last season's Eastern Conference runners-up.

SIX THOUGHTS:
Five Who Should Be in the Hockey Hall

TAMPA, Fla. -- Every year, for almost 20 years, my old friend Ed Sweeney sent a letter to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
As this year’s new inductees to the Hall were feted on Monday, I have taken up Ed’s gauntlet. I have decided to take it upon myself to write an open letter on Mr. Sweeney’s behalf in hopes that it might alert Bill Hay or Jim Gregory or Harry Sinden or somebody on the Hall of Fame selection committee to the indisputable fact that to the hockey historians in the middle of Canada, the Toronto-based Hall is still a sad Eastern/American joke.

"Protect yourself at all times." These are the instructions that boxers receive prior to a match. All hockey players need to start doing the same thing.
