Patrice Cormier was recalled today to replace an injured Jim Slater, who is suspected to have a broken hand from blocking a Phaneuf shot while down 5-on-3 in the third. I picked on Slater a bit in my review of the Jets’ Penalty Killing troubles, but I have to admit that now I feel as though the hockey gods are trying to teach me to appreciate what I have. Inside a quick look at what we’re getting in Cormier.

Kubalik for Machacek: Fun name differential = 0

Kevin McCartney
March 12 2013 03:55PM

It's old news now (like, two days!), but the Jets moved elder prospect Spencer Machacek for Czech winger Tomas Kubalik over the weekend. It's a small move, and neither player is likely to play 200 games in the NHL. Still, I'm obsessive, so we're going to talk about each player, why it happened, and what it means for the Jets after the jump!

Jets Special Teams Woes: PK

Kevin McCartney
March 11 2013 05:38PM

The Jets have been struggling to stay on the playoff bubble in the East all year. A 3-game win streak to end February gave way to two decisive losses to divisional opponents, and the recent road trip collected 5 of a possible (and expected) 8 points against also-rans and the struggling Devils. Sure, there have been some injuries, particularly to the team's best two defencemen in Byfuglien and Enstrom. Goaltending has been... well, that's another article. Game #25 at Devils: Streaking?

Kevin McCartney
March 10 2013 02:45PM

New Jersey Devils (11-9-5) vs.

Your Winnipeg Jets (12-11-1)

Last Meeting February 28th, Jets 3, Devils 1

Game at 6pm on TSN-Jets and TSN 1290-Winnipeg

Preview

The Jets might be the most fortunate team in the NHL in March. No one can help what division they play in, but this is the Jets first game against a team with a winning record so far this month and it comes when New Jersey has gone 2-6-2 in their last ten games, collecting just three points in the 8 games since Brodeur was injured. Hedberg will be in net for his 9th straight start today and his 3rd of the season against the Jets. The Jets have a chance to make it three in a row against Moose, and three in a row on the calendar as well.

Florida Panthers (6-11-5) vs.

Your Winnipeg Jets (10-10-1)

Last Meeting: Feburary 5, Jets 3 - Panthers 2 (OT)

PREVIEW

So on Saturday, Washington entered our matchup last in the east. Today, that’s Florida! Man, I don’t want to be a King maker. Or, like, a serf maker, I guess. Turning plebs into prols, maybe? Okay, forget feudalism – let’s go with wrestling. We can’t let ‘em off the mat, boys!
