After kicking three field goals again the Flyers on Thursday, will Winnipeg dare get into a shoot-out with the highly skilled Tampa Bay Lightning tonight on HNIC? Based on the way the goalies have been for both teams, they may not have a choice. The over/under line according to Bodog is set at 5.5, which I think is attainable by the end of the first period.
Tonight the Jets are back in action after a couple of days of playing the Philadelphia Flyers in Philly. Once again the Jets face a team playing the second game of a back to back. Last Saturday they faced the Hurricanes in the same scenario and took it to Carolina. Tonight will be a much tougher test.
The sport gods are smiling down upon us today as the Bombers and the Jets both play today, hours apart! It’s a huge implication game for the Blue as the season draws to a close. It’s a statement game for the Jets, as they can’t afford to let the season slip away before October turns to November. Today’s game is unique from every other game they have played this year, no circus show is expected tonight, just a hockey game. Good.
Tonight the traveling circus known as the Winnipeg Jets 3.0 and legions of their fans square off in Phoenix. You may have heard of the Coyotes, aka Winnipeg Jets 2.0, who were a whisker away from coming home on two occasions. If you have never seen a game in Glendale you should plan a nice week long vacation there around the Coyotes schedule. Beautiful facility and a great town. There is nothing quite like walking up to a game in December or January wearing shorts and flip-flops. I don’t have the numbers of how many Jets fans will be there tonight but I would estimate at least 4,000. I personally know 4 people who will be there. Should be a great time!
It was interesting to hear many Jets fans cheering in the first period in Chicago on Wednesday night. I think that is going to be the norm for the Jets this year. Their fans are scattered all over North America.
A few years ago Dennis Green, then coach of the Arizona Cardinals, gave one of the best rants in pro sports history. While the tirade doesn’t completely relate to the Winnipeg Jets, it always makes me laugh. And really isn’t that worth clicking on the link?
